HOME EDUCATION LAWS:
Home Education is one of the five legal ways to satisfy Florida's compulsory attendance law, Statute
1003.01, which gives parents the choice of achieving regular school attendance through one of these provisions:
- Public School
- Religious School
- Nontraditional Private School
- Home School
- Private Tutoring
Home Education Programs - Florida Statute, 1002.41, parents who teach and direct the education of their
own children at home must notify their district school superintendent and meet the other requirements of this
law. The child must show educational progress each year. These students are legally considered "home
education students." By definition, a home education program is "sequentially progressive instruction" of a
student directed by his or her parent or guardian in order to satisfy the requirements of Statute 1003.21 and
1002.41
Rights and Responsibilities - The parent or guardian is not required to be a certified teacher or have any
educational qualifications. As the parent or guardian, you are the primary instructor for, and supervisor of
your child's education. Instruction through other curriculum sources is permissible and encouraged. Those that
can't discipline themselves, must be disciplined by someone else!
Responsibility Requirements - There are six stipulations that must be established and followed to comply
with Florida law as a home educator. You don't have to worry about this because we are a registered private
school. We take care of those responsibilities for you!
- Send a notice of intent to your district school superintendent. (N/A)
- Maintain a portfolio of records. (We keep up with student academic progress and permanent records)
- Make portfolio available for inspection. (We will comply when requested)
- Submit and annual evaluation for each child to the superintendent. (We are required to do this for you)
- Preserve each child's portfolio for two years. (We are required to do this for you)
- Letter of Termination of a program. (N/A)
We Provide -
- Individual student course requirement projections, progress reports, and record keeping.
- Course curriculum and resources.
- Optional Pre-Post Assessment Tests & Mandatory Stanford 10 Tests.
- Tutoring, correspondence, and support.
Financial Aid - Parents, check to see if your child is eligible for local, state, or federal funds for educational
service programs. Also, you can ask if your current Church you attend if they will help with the costs.
Tutoring For Non-Students - (other public, private, or home schooled students) -
We can provide a one-on-one tutoring service for local students, (Jefferson County Florida), at the local library
by a scheduled appointment only.
We can also provide virtual home tutoring for distance learning students, (outside the local area), through this
web site by a scheduled appointment only.
Our charge will be $10.00 per hour in advance, plus the cost of any supplimental learning material.
Lower Grade Level Students - We are designed for High School completion, but on an individual bases, we
will consider taking on 8th grade level and lower students. The same enrollment procedures and fee charges
apply.
Curriculum and Tuition fees currently are $20.00 per workbook.
It should only take the student one month to complete a workbook.
If a student takes the average number of six classes, this would be calculated as follows: 6 x $20.00 = $120.00 per month
